In recent years, a lot of news about people injured or killed by the cars on roads can be heard or seen, which shows us that traffic accidents have been increasing.
But why are there so many such magic events? Is it just because more cars are running on the roads with the development of economy, or because the road conditions can＇t meet the requirement of cars? I think maybe that＇s only one part of the reason. The safety awareness seems much more important in the cause of road accidents. As we all know, quite a lot of traffic accidents are due to the drivers who drive cars after drinking. Drunk drivers＇ mind is vague, and they can＇t control themselves and the car well, so they can easily spoil other＇s happiness out of consciousness.
Having realized the main reason and sad effect of the car accidents, we can find some ways to avoid or decrease the accidents. Yesterday morning, I heard a terrible news that my friend Allee was admitted to the hospital because of a car accident. The day before yesterday, Allee was going to bookstore to buy a book. He was very careful when he got to the crossroad. He crossed the street then the traffic light turned green. However, when he just went to the middle of the street, a car suddenly appeared at his right-hand side and came directly towards him. The driver drove fast and it was too late to dodge. Allee was knocked down by a few meters away. He was taken to the hospital immediately and had a surgery. Last night, I visited to him. He looked pale although he was out of danger.

If you take a careful look at the chart and study the figures, youll find the number of people injuried or killed in the traffic accidents in city A has been increasing all the time. In July , there were only 2,000 people injuried, while inDecember, the number of the injuried went up to 4,200. There was an increase of 110 percent. As for the people killed in the accidents in July, the figure was only 300, but in December it rose to 1,200 which was four times as bigger as it was in July. So the traffic problem has become a big headache for the city government.

yesterday afternoon,i happened to witness a terrible traffic accident on my way home from school. it was 5：30 p.m.,i was riding my favorite giant back home. when i got to the last crossing on the golden lion street,the red light was on. so i applied the brakes,along with a long queue of vehicles waiting to pass.
just at that moment,a heavy-load truck with earth roared forward at my side and bumped against a private accord of honda travelling eastbound. as a result,the windshield of the lorry was broken into pieces and its driver got fatally wounded on the head on the steering wheel. the driver of the accord and his girlfriend,the only passenger in the car,only got minor injuries,but his car lost its rear axel and two wheels and was totally dead.
as for the cause of the accident,i think the driver of the lorry should be held responsible： the light was red then; he should have stopped and waited. it was he who had broken the traffic regulations. in addition,the bad weather was part of the cause. it was drizzling then,and the road was quite slippery. finally,drunk driving was probably an important factor. as the police discovered on the spot,there was a heavy alcoholic smell on the dead body of the lorry driver.

My name is Liming. I am studying at college. A week ago I saw a traffic accident, which is still vivid in my mind. It was at about 9:00 on Saturday morning, June 15th, when I went out of the university to visit a friend of mine at another university.
I was walking leisurely on the sidewalk when I heard a loud crash of two vehicles just at the T-junction about 10 meters away. Two taxis crashed together. It was a traffic accident. I went up and fimnd that the two taxis were badly damaged. Both cars were out of shape. One door of a car was knocked off and lying on the road.
One driver was hlooding and another was shut in the taxi. Some people were trying to help the driver get out of the damaged car. One man was calling to the traffic policeman station. A lot of cars were jammed on the road. From the stopping track on the road, it is clear that the two taxis were driving too fast.
But it is just one of the reasons. In my opinion, the taxi drivers are eager to take more passengers and make a little more money. On the other hand, both drivers dont show concern for one another. Both of them wanted to run in front of another. Therefore, the accident is inevltable. So far, we should let the drivers keep it in their lnlnd that a little slower, a little safer. Taking care of others lives means taking care of your own life.

An Eye-witness Account of a Traffic Accident The car accident happened at about 7:30 on the morning of April 6th, 2003 when I was on my way to school.
一場交通事故，車禍發生在早晨7:30在2003年4月6日，當我在去學校的路上親眼目睹。
It was raining heavily, and the road was very slippery. Three little boys were going in front of me, each riding on a bike, talking loudly with each other while they rode. One of the boys didnt weara raincoat; instead he was holding an umbrella in one hand, and the handle of the bike in another. As he turned left to Hongqiao Road, a car came out at a high speed from behind a truck parked on the corner. Both the boy and the driver acted quickly, but it was too late. I heard a big noise and saw the boy falling down and an umbrella thrown away. I was completely shocked.

I think three factors attributed to this tragedy. The first factor is the boys absent mindedness. He was talking all the way, dangerously holding an umbrella while riding the bike. The second factor is the bad weather and the slippery road, which makes it hard for the driver to bring the car to a full stop abruptly. The last factor was the improperly parked truck, which was big enough to make the road conditions invisible to the driver and students who were going to make a turn.

As is shown in the table, from January to June, a total of 94,670 people were injured and 2,827 people were killed. We can find that traffic accidents have been on the increase all the time. In Jan, there were only 13,908 people injured while in June the number went up to 17,151. In January, there were only 230 people killed, but in June, the number increased to 700.
The rise not only shows that traffic accidents are becoming a threat to peoples lives and properties, but also shows that problems existed in the traffic systems. It is now very urgent for us to take effective measures to bring them under control.

The rate of the traffic accidents has dropped considerably on bridge road in recent years. According to the statistic we have in hand, only six accidents took place in 2000. This accident rate is even lower than that of 1991 when the rate was not increased yet. In 1992, as the nearby road was closed, bridge road began too busy and a lot of accidents followed consequently. To bring down the accident rate, the local government moved the bus stop 100 yards away from where had been and reduced the accidents markedly. In the next four years, the accident rate remained more less at the same level. All these signs have proved to be very effective in reducing the traffic accidents.
