　　Ladies and Gentlemen , Good afternoon! I’m very glad to stand here and give you a short speech. today my topic is “youth”. I hope you will like it , and found the importance in your youth so that more cherish it.

　　First I want to ask you some questions:

　　1、 Do you know what is youth?

　　2、 How do you master your youth? Youth

　　Youth is not a time of life, it is a state of mind ; it is not rosy cheeks , red lips and supple knees, it is a matter of the emotions : it is the freshness ; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life .

　　Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of the appetite , for adventure over the love of ease. This often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20 . Nobody grows old merely by a number of years . We grow old by deserting our ideals.

　　Years wrinkle the skin , but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul . Worry , fear , self –distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust .

　　Whether 60 of 16 , there is in every human being ‘s heart the lure of wonders, the unfailing childlike appetite of what’s next and the joy of the game of living . In the center of your heart and my heart there’s a wireless station : so long as it receives messages of beauty , hope ,cheer, courage and power from men and from the infinite, so long as you are young .

　　When the aerials are down , and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old ,even at 20 , but as long as your aerials are up ,to catch waves of optimism , there is hope you may die young at 80.

　　青春不是指歲月，而是指心態(tài)。粉嫩的臉，紅潤的唇，強健的膝并不是青春。青春表現(xiàn)在意志的頑強與軟弱。想象的豐富與蒼白、情感的充足與貧乏等方面。青春是生命深處清泉的噴涌。

　　青春是追求。只有當(dāng)士氣蓋過怯弱、進取壓倒茍安之時，青春才存在。果如此，則60見之長者比20歲之少年更具青春活力。僅僅歲月的'消逝并不能使他們年輕。而一旦拋棄抱負(fù)和信念，則垂垂老也。

　　歲月只能使皮膚起皺。而一旦丟失生活的x，則連靈魂枯老，使人生枯如死水，毫無活力。

　　60歲長者也好，16歲少年也罷，每個人的內(nèi)心深處都渴望奇跡，都如孩子一般眨著期盼的雙眼，期盼著下一次，期盼著生活的情趣，你我靈魂深處都有一座無線電中轉(zhuǎn)站------只有你我年輕，則總能聽到盼望的召喚，總能發(fā)出喜悅的歡呼，總能傳達(dá)士氣的訊號，總能表現(xiàn)出青春的活力………

　　一旦青春的天線倒下，你的靈魂即為玩世不恭之雪、悲觀厭世之冰掩蓋；即使你年方20.其實你已垂垂老也。而只要你青春的天線高高聳起，就可以隨時接收到樂觀的電波-----即使你年過八旬，行將就木，而你卻仍舊擁有青春，你仍舊年輕。

　　One night, I complained to my mom about the lack of time. Finally she said,you are short of time just because you waste precious minutes on complaints and anxiety. The point is, no matter how full your schedule is, if you try really hard, you can always fit in some thing more.

　　It is the same with filling the jar. Even if you place a dozen fist-sized rocks and a bucket of gravel into the jar, there is still space for sand and water between the rocks and gravel.

　　The lack of time is just the excuse for my negligence of every single minute. I believe that the great dividing line between success and failure can be expressed in six words,I did not have enough time.The fact is I do have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein. The point is I have never touched upon the real meaning of life which lies in snatching, seizing and enjoying every minute of it. No idleness, no delay, no procrastination, no complaint! It is during my moments of complaining or hesitation that my destiny is shaped. Once I make full use of every moment, I believe that, my worries will be gradually cut down to nothing.

　　Time is the most valuable of all our possessions, but the most perishable as well. As Henry David Thoreau said,You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment.

　　Whenever I fell the lack of time in the future, I will tell myself Carpe diem , seize the day, make every moment count.

　　抓住每分每秒

　　有天晚上，我向媽媽埋怨自己事情太多，時間不夠。她說道："你埋怨沒有時間就是因為你把寶貴的分分秒秒都鋪張在埋怨和焦慮上。關(guān)鍵是，無論你的時間表排得多滿，假如你真的努力嘗試了，你還是總能間插地做些事情。'

　　這同填充廣口瓶是一個道理，即使你將一小堆拳頭大小的石塊和一桶碎石倒進瓶里，也還能連續(xù)倒入沙子和水，使其漏進石塊的間隙中去。

　　"沒時間'無異于我為自己鋪張分分秒秒找的`托詞罷了。我信任勝利與失敗的一線之差可以用六個字來形容："我沒足夠時間。' 然而事實上，我卻與海倫.凱勒，帕斯特，杰弗遜和愛因斯坦每天所擁有的時間分秒不差。關(guān)鍵是我并未觸及生命的真諦：抓住，享受生命的每一分鐘。不要碌碌無為，不要耽擱推遲，不要牢騷埋怨!往往是在我埋怨和遲疑的時候，我的命運就被打算了。而一旦我能善用分分秒秒，我信任我的苦惱也會被漸漸瓦解。

　　在我們所擁有的財寶中，時間是最寶貴而又最不長久的。正如梭羅所說的那樣："你得抓住現(xiàn)在，把握機會，在短暫的瞬間中查找永恒。'

　　假如將來我再發(fā)覺沒時間的時候，我會告誡自己，"carpe diem (拉丁語)，抓住今日，抓住每分每秒。'

　　the hand of the princess, the old king gave them three tasks to be accomplished, each next to impossible. One day, there came up a handsome young prince in the kings palace. Well, you know the rest. The three tasks may be different in different versions, but the main plot is always the same, Prince successfully passed all the challenge and got the heart of the princess in time. And the ending is always the same, finishing with the line And they live happily ever after.

　　Why arent we tired of this story so beautiful, so uealistic (, I would say, so unimaginative ? How can a story like that can enduregenerations of repetition? The reason, I think, is that a typical success story like this is so close to our daily life. Moreover we can understand so deeply, it is not just a story, but a good will from peoples inner heart. By implication, we see a 4-step definitions of success: 1 ) a goal to be set. as represented by the beautiful princess. So youd better find your princess as soon as possible; 2 ) challenges to be meet, as represented by the three tasks. Only if you directly meet the challenge, can you besuccessful; 3 ) the process of overcoming difficulties, as represented by the ordeals the youth goes through; 4 ) the reward of success, as represented by the happy marriage. Thats all! Find your princess, meet challenges, overcome difficulties, and have a good life.

　　么樂此不疲呢?這樣的故事又如何能夠經(jīng)受幾代人的重復(fù)?我想,因為它是典型的勝利的例子。故事的思想性很強,具有代表性。通過故事帶給我們的啟示,我們熟悉到了勝利定義中的四個步驟;第一,目標(biāo)的.設(shè)定,有如故事里漂亮的公主;第二,所遇到的困難和挑戰(zhàn),就像三大任務(wù);第三,克服困難的過程,故事中青年經(jīng)受重重難關(guān)可以作為象征;第四,就是勝利的果實,猶如幸福的婚姻。
