在讀《紅與黑》的過程中給我印象最為深刻的就是于連的心理活動。通篇幾乎對于連的所思所想都進行了深刻的刻畫，通過于連的所思于他所表現給外人看的大部分是截然不同。隨著于連對自己偽裝的極致，他的人生也逐漸達到人生的巔峰狀態。與此形成鮮明對比的反而是于連生命最后在監獄度過的日子，他大膽的并且坦誠的向德。萊納夫人表明自己真情實感，包括他以前最不恥提起的懦弱的情感。但是，我們不得不承認此時身為階下囚的于連卻是最幸福的。于連也漸漸讓我們明白平凡是一種幸福。
于連的不幸其實本可以挽救，但是他對于許多事情的錯誤的認識讓他當發現自己錯的離譜的時候，已經無力改變了。讓我們設想一下，如果于連能真心體會到德。萊納夫人的愛，并且肯定自己對于這為善良純潔夫人的真愛，他的一生或許可以和德。萊納夫人平凡幸福的度過；如果于連在進入真正所謂的資產階級上流社會時，看明白對他的款待不是禮貌而是真正從骨子里的漠視時或許還可以回頭；如果于連能夠看明白瑪蒂爾德小姐更加深愛的是自己的英雄情懷，自己的驕傲，看明白瑪蒂爾德小姐剛開始與他相愛時的反復無常與眼底偶爾流露的厭惡，是不是于連的一生不會變成悲劇，而是另一番平凡幸福的場景？于連或許是不幸的，但是斯丹達爾還是心軟了，讓他在生命最后的時光明白了什么才是他最需要的。
在讀《紅與黑》的時候，即使在知道于連可能愛上了馬蒂爾德小姐也從不曾敢想象原來結束于連的`瘋狂是他舉起槍想要殺死德。萊納夫人的時候。于連想要殺死這位純潔、善良的曾經的愛人。還好，德。萊納夫人并沒有死去，否則于連的余生不會再感受到幸福了。
結局意味深長。馬蒂爾德愛于連，在于連死后給了于連畢生可能都在追求的財富地位。德。萊納夫人愛于連，在于連死后的第三天擁抱著她的孩子離世了。于連與馬蒂爾德小姐的愛情是需要技巧的，而與德。萊納夫人的愛則只需要真心。兩個女人不同的結局或許也讓我們看到了斯丹達爾對于愛情的領悟。真心即真愛。
