die 的短語整理

　　1 . die from 死于，因而死。如：

　　He died from a heart attack. 他死于心臟病發作。

　　Many villagers die every year from snake bites. 每年都有許多村民死因被蛇咬而死亡。

　　2 . die of 死于，因而死。如：

　　Her grandfather died of cancer. 他祖父死于癌癥。

　　The animals died of starvation in the snow. 這些動物在雪地里餓死了。

　　注：關于 die from 與 die of 的區別：有人認為若死因存在于人體之上或之內，一般用介詞 of; 若死因不是存在人體之內或之上，而是由環境造成的，則一般用介詞 from。 但在現代英語中兩者常可混用。

　　3 . die down 熄滅，平靜下來。如：

　　The fire died down. 火慢慢熄了。

　　His anger has died down a bit. 他的怒氣已消了一點。

　　4 . be dying for sth [to do sth ] 迫切想要某事。如：

　　He is dying for something to eat. 他極想弄點東西吃。

　　She is dying to know where he has gone. 他迫切想知道他到哪里去了。

　　5 . die away 漸息，漸弱。如：

　　THe breeze has died away. 微風漸漸止住了。

　　The sound of the car died away in the distance. 汽車的響聲消失在遠處。
